CELF Summit

The Canadian Engineering Leadership Forum hosted the National Engineering Summit in Montréal, QC this past week on May 19th to 21st.  This event brought together representatives from the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies, Engineers Canada, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the National Council of Deans of Engineering and Applied Science and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students, as well as professionals from all walks of life.Kyle Ruttan speaking to audience at CELF Summit 2009.

The event focused on the concept of the "new engineer in society", and what role Canada's engineers will be in Canada over the next thirty years.  The conference tackled this broad question by examining five key streams; health, the environment, safety and security, global competitiveness, and finally quality of life, which the CFES organized.

Over three days of speakers, discussion and collaboration, after hearing from people from all fields, a series of key goals were established.  At a closing ceremony, representatives from all six organizations signed a memorandum of understanding, reasserting the belief that collaboration between Canada's engineering organizations is the only way to ensure a sustainable, innovative future for Canada.

Keep checking the CFES website as more information becomes available, and the initial press releases are pushed out.  This was a landmark event for all six organizations, and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students would like to extend our thanks to Engineers Canada for their leadership role in this.
