Song Competition Town Hall 2.0

One week ago, twelve active members and officers congregated at a public web conference hosted by the CFES to discuss the Song Competition. This hotly debated contest was spearheaded by the National Council of Deans of Engineering and Applied Science (NCDEAS) and Engineers Canada just 4 months ago. Soon after, the CFES put the competition on hold following unrest from members concerned the new song would replace Godiva’s Hymn and threaten engineering tradition.

Despite a smaller than anticipated turn-out, the meeting was successful. Click the following link to view a replay of the conference: http://fm-openlearn.open.ac.uk/fm/9ef51d-7040. A synopsis of the scenario was delivered, the current mission statement was approved and a plan of action was drafted. Holding a 2nd Song Competition Town Hall meeting was defined as the first step forward.

The meeting will be held the week of July 12th. A Doodle poll has been created to find a date that accommodates the most number of individuals. Come out and voice your questions and concerns. Please RSVP Julien LaPointe at vpcomm@cfes.ca if you are interested in attending.
