President's Update

I trust that everyone's post-Congress recovery is going well - only took me about a week to get my feet back.

We've been in full swing since Congress. With work progressing on the Canadian Engineering Leadership Forum Summit, transition starting between the two Executives and promotion work on-going with the Ottawa Declaration, it's been a busy time.

Over the next few months, the bulk of my focus will be on transitioning the new team, developing a comprehensive strategy for the upcoming year, managing the promotion and awareness of the Ottawa Declaration and finalizing our contributions as well as application process for the Canadian Engineering Leadership Forum Summit (www.engineeringsummit.ca).

Beyond this, the rest of the team is hard at work at wrapping up projects such as the Event on Education, International Engineering Competition, preparing for the Complementary Education course at the University of Toronto, run by our very own Official Languages Commissioner, Charlsie, and a plethora of other projects.  Stay tuned for more updates!

As you move into your own elections, what should you be focusing on?  My advice is this: ensure that your incoming VP External and council are aware and knowledgeable of what the CFES is.  Here's a couple of ways you can make this happen:

  • Print off a copy of CFES for Dummies and ensure your new VPX reads it!
  • Schedule an ESSV for your new Executive *before* April - book now to ensure your Ambassador or another officer can do it!
  • Put your new Executive in touch with the rest of the Federation - make an announcement with their names and how to contact them on the Link once you know!
By following these simple steps, you'll make the process almost painless for your new Executive, and ensure they have a great time being involved in this Federation.
Finally, if you're interested in CFES patches - fear not, they're coming soon!  We'll have them available at some regional events and other activities over the next few months, and we'll announce that ahead of time.
That's all for now - any questions, comments or thoughts, feel free to let me know!
Kyle Ruttan
President
